Abstract

The present invention relates to a method for improving the strength of a paper block by using a diallylamine acrylamide copolymer in a sizing press formulation containing starch. In particular, the present invention provides methods and compositions for improving the strength of paper. The method involves adding an amine-containing polymer to the paper. The amine-containing polymer interacts with a material such as GPAM or starch to render the paper stronger in aspects including tensile strength, surface strength, and bulk strength.
