Abstract

A method of making a boxer-style pant having side seams, a contracted crotch region and hanging legs. A flat web is provided. Portions are removed from the flat web to define leg openings. The flat web is then contracted either elastically or inelastically in selected areas along the flat web between the leg openings. The flat web is cut into separate pieces, folded and side seams are formed. The pant may include an absorbent.

BACKGROUND OF INVENTION[0001] The present invention pertains to methods of making pants having side seams and a contracted crotch region. More particularly, the present invention pertains to methods of making boxer shorts having side seams and a contracted crotch region. The boxer shorts may be absorbent or non-absorbent.[0002] Pant-like garments have numerous applications including disposable clothing, training pants, feminine care products, adult incontinence products, disposable swimwear, or the like. Pant-like disposable garments are typically three-dimensional products with closed sides so that the product has a unitary waist opening and two leg openings. The wearer raises and lowers the garment to apply the product.
