[0135] Systems and methods will now be described that include programming for operator studio selection that includes both layer 2 mechanisms, the basic method for directly driving hardware, and layer 3 mechanisms. Steps and devices, Layer 3 mechanisms are the basic methods, steps and devices used to connect at the network level.

[0136] General diagram of the target broadband access network architecture

[0137] The network environment for the methods and devices described herein typically includes a broadband access network 29 to which the operator studios 3.1, 3.2 are connected and which are designed to serve users by using user terminals 15 connected to the broadband access network , or serve users through a broadband access network, as shown in Figure 1a. The broadband access network 29 is the access network to which user equipment is allowed to connect and which allows data communication at a sufficient rate between the user terminal and the operator's workshop, the ...

Abstract

An access node for an Ethernet network is connected between an access point of user devices and a broadband remote access server for access to a plurality of service providng networks. It includes a VLAN handling unit having a memory for storing identifications of Ethernet frames transmitted in a first VLAN including the access node and a local virtual router function unit of of the access server in a second VLANs. Each of the second VLANs including the access node, the local virtual router function unit and one of the virtual router function units of the access server for each of the virtual router function units. A control unit commands the handling unit to transmit frames from a new user device that has connected itself to the access point into the first virtrual local area network. The control unit also receives information from the access server in respect of routing frames and its commands to the handling unit to transmit frames from user device which is connected to the access point and the frames from which are transmitted into the first VLAN to be instead transmitted into one of th esecond VLAN as given by the information received from the broadband remote access server, the frames thereby being transmitted to the server of the respective service providing network.

Description

[0001] related application [0002] This application claims priority to and claims the benefit of International Patent Application No. PCT / SE2005 / 000645, filed April 29, 2005, the entire teachings of which are hereby incorporated by reference. technical field [0003] The present invention relates generally to digital communication systems, in particular to digital communication systems in which end users access the rest of the system through an Ethernet network and which include broadband access to various services, and more particularly Specifically relates to operator shop selection in broadband access by an end user in a digital communication system. Background technique [0004] Ethernet is the world's most pervasive networking technology. [0005] Ethernet signals are transmitted serially from one station to every other station on the network, one bit at a time. Ethernet uses a broadband access method called Carrier Sense Multiple Access / Collision Detection (CSMA / CD...
