Abstract

A milking system for a community milking center to which owners of milking animals, or their representatives, come regularly in order to have their animals milked, comprises a milking machine (11) for milking the animals; a device (14a) provided for measuring, for each of the owners, an amount of milk produced by the animals belonging to that owner; a milk storage tank (12) provided for collecting the milk; and a herd management system (13) provided for recording the measured amounts of milk, comparing the measured amounts of milk, and alerting at least some of the owners, or their representatives, depending on the outcome of the comparison. The herd management system comprises information (13a) of each of the animals including an identity (CowId) of the animal, a value (MilkYield) of the milk production by the animal, and an identity (OwnerId) of the owner of the animal.
