Embodiment Construction

[0044] figure 1 is a perspective view of a steam mop 10 constructed and arranged in accordance with one embodiment of the present invention. The mop 10 includes a housing or body 16 at one end of a tube 20 which is attached to a steam pad frame 21 and has a handle 11 at the other end of the tube 20 . Such as figure 2 As shown, the housing 16 includes as part of the upper portion of the housing 16 a water storage container or tank 14 connected to a boiler 46 via a pump 29 having a one-way outlet valve 45 . Any type of mechanical pump or some other device capable of delivering water to the boiler can be used for the steam mop 10 . Preferably, the pump 29 is a mechanical pump, such as a bellows pump or a piston pump, which is activated by the user pushing and pulling the handle 11 at the end of the tube 20 to move the mop 10 . An upper cord holder 17 is mounted on the handle 11 , while a lower cord holder 18 is mounted on the tube 20 for storing a power cord 47 .

Abstract

A steam mop having a main body having a boiler with a water inlet and a steam outlet positioned therein, a pump having an inlet and an outlet with the pump outlet connected to the boiler inlet, a water container for storing water connected to the pump inlet, and a steam pocket frame connected to the steam outlet, where the activation of the pump pumps water from the water container to the boiler for generation of steam. In an embodiment of the invention, a steam mop having a main body with a boiler, a water container, a mechanical water pump between the boiler and container and at least one side arm connecting the boiler steam outlet to a fabric steam pocket frame. The water pump is actuated by movement of the mop when cleaning to send water to the boiler. The steam pad frame is substantially rectangular with a plurality of baffles in a square grid formation extending outwardly to distribute steam to distribute steam between the baffles. A replaceable fabric pad fits snugly on the frame to distribute cleaning steam to the surface to be cleaned.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates generally to a steam mop, and more particularly to a steam mop comprising a water pump activated by user action to pump water from a water reservoir to a boiler for generating steam to be dispensed, which will be Dispense to steam nozzles coupled to the boiler and to pads for application to the surface to be cleaned. Background technique [0002] Conventional mops have been widely used for cleaning floors. However, conventional mops cannot effectively clean dirt in small crevices and floor gaps. Additionally, conventional mops require frequent lifting because mops are only effective at cleaning a small surface area at a time. [0003] Various steaming devices are known for applying steam to household objects. The uses of such devices are numerous and may include applying steam to drapes or other fabrics to loosen wrinkles, and applying steam to items to assist in cleaning the items. [0004] A typical steam appliance h...
