Abstract

Disclosed is a wireless communication device that solves issues involving the transmission capacity of a data signal being reduced more than necessary in order to preserve the reliability of a pilot signal. A determining unit (20A) determines the reception modulation method for a received data signal in response to the state of a transmission line (3). A transmitting circuit (10) generates a first pilot signal indicating the reception modulation method that was determined by the determining unit (20A) and modulates and transmits the first pilot signal after adding an error correcting code thereto. A receiving unit (20B) receives a second pilot signal indicating a transmission modulation method, which is the method for modulating a transmitted data signal. A switching unit (20C) switches to at least either the modulation method for the first pilot signal transmitted by the transmitting circuit (10) or a redundancy of the error correcting code of the first pilot signal, in response to the transmission modulation method indicated by the second pilot signal received by the receiving unit (20B).
