Abstract

A device for noise rise estimation, comprising a front-end signal conditioning device (9) and an interference whitener (14) connected thereto. The interference whitener (10) is arranged for providing interference whitening of the front-end signal. The processor (20) is arranged for a plurality of measurements of the received total broadband power received at the front-end signal conditioning means (9). A processor (20) calculates an estimate of the noise floor measurement based on the measured received total wideband power. The processor (20) determines the equivalent total wideband power output by the interference whitener (14). The processor (20) also calculates a noise rise measurement based on the equivalent total wideband power and noise floor measurements, and compensates the noise rise measurement for interference whitening. The digital receiver (12) is connected to the output of the interference whitener (14).
