Abstract

An error correction BCH (Broadcast Channel) code is introduced into an image compression algorithm; a four-bit binary of each image adds a 3-bit check code to compose a code word in a size of 7; these blocks enter into a BCH decoder, so that the size of the original blocks is reduced to 4 bits after the check bits are removed. The experiment result shows that the compression algorithm is effective, and a very well compression ratio is given without data loss. The use of the BCH code is better than the use of single Huffman compression in the aspect of improving the compression ratio.
