Abstract

The invention relate to a method engineering a field device by an engineering tool, which method comprises the steps of identifying the field device, configuring, parameterizing, diagnosing and commissioning the field device. Diagnosing the field device comprises identifying one or more parameter that causes error. The method of diagnosing the field device by an engineering tool relate to identifying the parameter that causes error through a device specific command for the said purpose. The invention also relate to a system for engineering a field device in a process control industry in accordance with the method of the invention.
