The embodiment of the disclosure provides a method and a device for pushing a theme. The method comprises the following steps: determining a receiver; determining the identification information of a theme to be pushed; generating a message, wherein the message at least comprises the identification information of the theme and an action sequence needing to be executed after the receiver receives the message; and sending the message to the receiver through a specified channel in order that the receiver completes the application of the theme by executing the action sequence after receiving the message. In the embodiment of the disclosure, a sharer only needs to transmit the identification information of the theme during transmission, so that time for uploading the theme is saved. Meanwhile, various intermediate links are saved, and sharing of the theme becomes easy and efficient. Moreover, relevant processes are completed automatically for the receiver, and the receiver does not need to participate, so that convenience is brought to user groups which cannot operate mobile phones or have difficulty in operating; the enthusiasm of users on theme sharing is enhanced; and faster transmission of the theme is facilitated.
