Abstract

The objective of the invention is to provide a group management method and device. Compared with the prior art, the group management method provided by the invention comprises the following steps: adding a user to a target group according to a group joining request of joining the target group of the user, starting to calculate the current group dwell time length of the user in the target group, detecting whether the current group dwell time length is equal to or greater than a group retention time length, if so, displaying group retention selection information of the target group to the user, and if the user selects to retain the target group, retaining the user in the target group. According to the group management method provided by the invention, when the current group dwell time length of the user in the target group is greater than or equal to the group retention time length, the user is prompted to select to retain the target group or not, therefore it is convenient for the user to join interested groups and log out uninterested groups in time, and thus the user experience is improved.
