The self-help book selling system includes a payment platform and a book database, and is characterized by further including a communication module, a scanning module, a display module, a magnetic stripe anti-theft module, and a processing module. The processing module is used for calling the scanning module to acquire the barcode of a book and query the book database for the price of the book through the barcode, calling the display module to display a payment QR code, calling the communication module to receive a payment receiving notification, calling the magnetic stripe anti-theft module to issue a demagnetization instruction to demagnetize the anti-theft magnetic stripe of the book, and calling the display module to display a payment completion notification. The system makes use of the principle that the magnetic stripe of a book can be magnetized and demagnetized. After a customer makes payment in a self-help manner, the magnetic stripe is automatically demagnetized, and the customer can take the book out of the security door of the store, thus completing the whole process of book selling. The system can change the situation in which customers queue up to make payment in traditional bookstores, save time for customers, enhance the customer experience, save labor for bookstores, improve the operating efficiency of bookstores, and increase profits.
