The method comprises the following steps that configuration information sent by a baseband unit in the distributed system is received, wherein the configuration information comprises reporting cycle information and caching time information of location symbols and transmission symbols for returning the location symbols; the location symbols of various remote units in a shared cell are cached in a reporting cycle according to the reporting cycle information and the caching time information; and the location symbols cached by the various remote units are returned to the baseband unit through the transmission symbols one by one. According to the symbol transmission mode, the location symbols of the various remote units can be transmitted separately, the transmission mode is simple, the returning bandwidth does not need to be increased, and the cost is reduced; and in addition, the baseband unit can detect the location symbol strength of each remote unit and then conducts location according to each location symbol strength, and therefore the location results are more accurate.
