A system for enforcing security policies on mobile communications devices is adapted to be used in a mobile communications network in operative association with a subscriber identity module. The system having a client-server architecture includes a server operated by a mobile communications network operator and a client resident on a mobile communications device on which security policies are to be enforced. The server is adapted to determine security policies to be applied on said mobile communications device, and to send thereto a security policy to be applied. The client is adapted to receive the security policy to be applied from the server, and to apply the received security policy. The server includes a server authentication function adapted to authenticate the security policy to be sent to the mobile communications device; the client is further adapted to assess authenticity of the security policy received from the server by exploiting a client authentication function resident on the subscriber identity module.

A radio base station in a mobile communication network collects information about the network and exchanges data with a configuration device, the Internet System Manager (iSM). The iSM automatically configures and integrates the base station into the network by defining configuration parameter settings that allow fill interoperation of the base station with the network, with regards to roaming and handover in particular, without the need to add or modify parameter settings in other existing network elements. A very large number and high geographical density of such base stations is supported with full interoperation between them, allowing to overcome limitations of conventional mobile communication networks in this regard, by utilizing a certain combination of parameter settings and a new method to address the different base stations in the network.

A method of requesting content from a communication server in a mobile communication network is provided. The method comprises determining whether the mobile device is in a first mode; requesting content for delivery to the mobile device, while the mobile device is in the first mode; and discontinuing requesting the content if the mobile device is in a second mode, wherein the first mode is distinguished from the second mode based on length of lack of user interaction with the mobile device to perform one or more functions.

A method for providing a buffer status report in a mobile communication network is implemented between a base station and a user equipment. When data arrives to buffers of the user equipment and the priority of a logical channel for the data is higher than those of other logical channels for existing data in the buffers, a short buffer status report associated with the buffer of a logical channel group corresponding to the arrival data is triggered. The user equipment is based on obtained resources allocated by the base station to fill all data of the buffer of the logical channel group in a Protocol Data Unit. If all data of the buffer of the logical channel group corresponding to the arrival data can be completely filled in the Protocol Data Unit, the short buffer status report is canceled. Otherwise, the user equipment transmits the short buffer status report.

Further a radio resource control apparatus, a mobile terminal and a system comprising the radio resource control apparatus and the mobile terminal are provided. The invention suggests improvements to current mobility procedures so as to reduce the interruption time implied by the procedures. More specifically, it is proposed to include at least one pointer to target cell-specific system information to a control message, such as a handover indication or connection release message, pointing the mobile terminal to system information in the target cell relevant for system access and/or to perform mobility procedures. Further, a portion of the target cell-specific system information may also be comprised in the control message.

The invention relates to a method for distributing control signaling for session control of a multicast or broadcast service within a mobile communication network. Furthermore the invention also provides a base station, mobile terminal and communication system to perform the proposed method. In order to reduce the number of signaling connections for the service, the invention proposes to avoid the initial distribution of session control signaling in the entire mobile communications network or service area. Rather than providing service related control signaling connections upon session start, the control signaling connections are set up in response to service requests of the mobile terminals requesting the service.
