Embodiment Construction

[0073] refer to Figure 1A and Figure 1B , as seen from the side and from above, respectively, shows the inspection vehicle of the present invention. More specifically, an inspection vehicle 1 for underwater inspection of coatings, marine growth, structural integrity and corrosion on ferromagnetic hulls and other ferromagnetic structures above and below the water surface includes non-magnetic elements 2, at least A magnetic wheel 3 operatively arranged to the element and a watertight camera 4 for visual inspection attached to the element or other structure of the inspection vehicle. The inspection vehicle further comprises a coupling side 5 on which at least one magnetic wheel is operatively arranged for magnetically coupling the inspection vehicle through coatings, marine growth and corrosion and maintaining the inspection vehicle attached. enabling the inspection vehicle to roll over the structure in a horizontal to vertical to inverted orientation when attached to the str...

Abstract

The invention relates to a checking vehicle for carrying out underwater checking on the coatings and the marine attachment organisms on ferromagnet hulls and other ferromagnet structures, the structural integrity of ferromagnet hulls and other ferromagnet structures, and the corrosion on ferromagnet hulls and other ferromagnet structures. The checking vehicle comprises a non-magnetic element, at least a magnetic wheel or magnetic equipment capable of being operatively arranged on the element, and a watertight camera attached to the element or other structures of the checking vehicle and used for visual checking, and further comprises a connection side and a non-connection side, wherein at least one magnetic wheel or magnetic equipment is operatively arranged on the connection side so as tomake the checking vehicle penetrate through coatings, any marine organisms and corrosion products and be magnetically connected and so as to make the checking vehicle roll on the structure along a horizontal-vertical-inverted fixed direction when the attaching of the checking vehicle to the structure is maintained, the non-connection side is substantially in a fixed direction opposite to the connection side, at least one magnetic wheel is not operatively arranged on the non-connection side, and the non-connection side is non-magnetically connected to the structure. The invention further provides a method for operating the checking vehicle.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to the inspection of ship hulls and other structures. More specifically, the present invention relates to inspection vehicles for underwater inspection of coatings, marine growth, structural integrity and corrosion on ferromagnetic hulls and other ferromagnetic structures. Background technique [0002] Coatings protect ship hulls and other structures at sea as well as onshore. Deterioration of the coating on the structure promotes corrosion which ultimately degrades the structural integrity. Experience has shown that after the removal of tin as a component of antifouling paint in 2008, the new coating system is less effective, which may be a less effective but also less toxic and less health threatening antifouling agent in recent years or additives, as many substances and components have been banned or restricted. [0003] Marine growth has a surprisingly large impact on a ship's fuel consumption. The friction force o...
