The invention discloses methods of video encoding and methods of video decoding. One of the methods of video encoding includes: obtaining intra-frame encoded frames in to-be-encoded image frames; comparing the obtained intra-frame encoded frames with reference images in a preset reference image library, and determining difference frames and identification information thereof; determining residualvalues according to the intra-frame encoded frames and the difference frames; encoding the residual values; and outputting residual values after encoding and the identification information of the difference frames. Through using the above method, further simplification processing on the intra-frame encoded frames and compression ratio improvement in a limited video application scene can be realized; and the problems of increasing complexity of video encoding processes and introducing other additional drawbacks due to optimization manners of multiple encoding, repeated compression, encoding parameter setting optimization or the like used for improving video compression technology can be solved.
