Problems solved by technology

This presents a problem that since random numbers with smaller random number codes occur more frequently than random numbers with other random number codes, the consistency of the output random numbers cannot be guaranteed
[0011] Therefore, the second problem that arises is that the bias in the generated random numbers leads to a significant defect of the random number generator, and when installed on other devices that require true random numbers, the random number generator cannot provide the desired result

[0051] figure 1 It is a schematic block diagram of the overall structure of the random number generating apparatus 10 according to the embodiment of the present invention. like figure 1 The illustrated random number generator 10 generates random numbers by amplifying thermal noise in nature, generating random pulses by comparing the thermal noise voltage value obtained after the amplification with a specific voltage value, and then measuring the time interval between the random pulses. At this point, uniform random numbers can be generated by eliminating the influence of the circuit response on the random number characteristics when the noise is amplified using the method described later.

[0052] The specific structure and operation of the random number generating device 10 of this embodiment will be described below. like figure 1 As shown, the random number generator 10 of this embodiment has a random pulse generator 11 serving as a random pulse generator. The random p...

Abstract

A random number generating method and a random number generating device are provided which are capable of generating uniform random numbers. Random pulses (V3) are generated by comparing a voltage level (V2) obtained by amplifying a voltage level of a thermal noise produced by a thermal noise generating device with a reference voltage level (V4). A pulse controller, if time intervals among random pulses (V3) are within a predetermined time, excludes random pulses (V3) occurred within the predetermined time and if time intervals among random pulses (V3) exceed the predetermined time, random numbers are generated based on time intervals among pulses measured by a counter.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a random number generating method and a random number generating device, in particular to a method and device for generating natural random numbers or physical random numbers according to thermal noise supplied by a thermal noise generating source. [0002] The present application claims priority from Japanese Patent Application No. 2001-272538 filed on September 7, 2001, which is incorporated herein by reference. Background technique [0003] Various apparatuses and methods have been proposed for generating random numbers using random events detected in nature. As such a device, a random number generator is available that utilizes, for example, the radioactive decay of atomic nuclei. However, since this apparatus for processing radiation has a particular problem, it is currently common practice to employ a random number generator utilizing thermal noise generated by resistors, diodes, and the like. [0004] As an example of ...
