[0016]The present invention relates to a device to assists a user in a kayak to securely attach a motor to the rear portion of their kayak. The present invention provides a kayak motor attachment device to allow an individual to attach a motor to their kayak effectively eliminating the need to manually paddle the kayak. The kayak motor attachment device includes an elongated frame to mount the motor to a pair of fishing pole supports at the back of the kayak. The frame is adjustable against the fishing pole supports to allow for kayaks of various sizes and exchange between two or more kayaks.

Abstract

A kayak motor attachment device for fastening a motor to a kayak comprising an elongated frame, where the elongated frame includes a pair of slots; a pair of fishing pole supports inserted into a pair of receiving holes positioned at a back of the kayak, where the pair of fishing pole supports attach to the elongated frame with a plurality of bolts through the pair of slots; an attachment housing secured to an end of the elongated frame; a support shaft attached to the attachment housing, where the support shaft rotates within the attachment housing to guide a propeller at a bottom end of the support shaft; and a motor attached atop the support shaft to power the propeller.

Some people enjoy the exhilaration of kayaking down white water rapids, while others enjoy the more peaceful waters of a placid lake or calm ocean waves. Most kayaks comprise enclosed bodies where the user sits on a seat within a cockpit. Typically, to steer and maneuver the kayak the user rows a double sided paddle to both propel themselves forward or backward and to change the direction where they are headed.[0005]Many times a fisherman may desire to use a kayak over larger more cumbersome vessels.
