Embodiment Construction

[0031] The best mode currently contemplated for carrying out the invention is described in detail below. These descriptions should not be construed as limiting, but only for illustrating the main principles of the embodiments of the present invention. The scope of the invention is best defined by the claims. Additionally, reference is made to my prior US Patent Nos. 6,361,169, 6,543,897, and 6,652,095, which are hereby incorporated by reference.

[0032] figure 1 3 and 4 illustrate an orthokeratic contact lens 10a according to one embodiment of the present invention. Such as figure 1 and Figure 1a As shown, contact lens 10a is a centrally conformal contact lens adapted to be worn over a deformed cornea 12a of a patient's eye 14 as estimated by a standard trial contact lens 10h to have a hypothetical cornea 12h. Contact lens 10a preferably has six corrective zones, from the center to the outer periphery of lens 10a: optical zone 20a, conformal zone 202a, composite attac...

Abstract

A kit for determining a hypothetical cornea for use with post-LASIK and post myopia Ortho-K amendment. The kit has a reference table for determining conformation data by using at least one of following data: pre-treatment KM readings, post-treatment KM readings, power reduced from before- to after-treatment, and post-treatment cornea optical zone. The kit further comprises a plurality of conformed lenses based on the conformation data in predetermined increments from the reference table. The pre-treatment KM readings comprise pre-operative or pre-ortho-K readings. The post-treatment KM readings comprise post-operative or post ortho-K readings. The post-treatment cornea optical zone comprises post-operative or post-ortho-K cornea optical zone. Also, a method of determining a hypothetical cornea for use with post-LASIK and post myopia Ortho-K amendment is disclosed. The method has inputting pre-treatment KM readings, inputting post-treatment KM readings, inputting power reduced from before- to after treatment, inputting post-treatment cornea optical zone, calculating conformation data, which is adapted to be used to generate specification for conformed lenses. Another kit for determining a hypothetical cornea for use with Keratoconus and post-hyperopia Ortho-K amendment can be constructed using at least one of following data: pre-altered KM readings, post-altered KM readings, pre-altered refraction error, and post altered specifications. The kit further comprises a plurality of conformed lenses based on the conformation data in predetermined increments from the reference table. The pre-altered KM readings comprise pre-keratoconus or pre-hyperopia ortho-K readings. The pre-altered refraction errors comprise refraction errors from a set of normal corneas. The post-altered specifications comprise cone widths of Keratoconus or steepened cornea zone of hyperopic Ortho-K and also magnitude of off centering of the cone apex.

Description

[0001] Cross References to Related Applications [0002] This application is a continuation of the co-pending PCT International Application No. PCT / US03 / 24624 filed with the US Receiving Office on August 6, 2003, which requires the filing on August 7, 2002 Priority to US Application No. 10 / 214,652, now US Patent No. 6,652,095. The entire contents of this PCT application and US application are hereby incorporated by reference. technical field [0003] The present invention relates to contact lenses for reshaping the cornea, and more particularly to contact lenses for reshaping geometrically abnormal altered corneas, such as after refractive surgery Increases in residual myopia, removal of hyperopia and / or presbyopia caused by overcorrection, and remodeling of irregular corneas (eg, severe or profound keratoconus) to restore useful lens-corrected vision. More particularly, the present invention relates to contact lenses shaped such that they gradually alter a patient's cornea...
