[0020] The invention disclosed herein provides a method and system for communicating Interactive Voice Response (IVR) data to a call originating device using a preconnected telephony communication channel. The call originating device can receive and display the IVR menu. Furthermore, the present invention may provide means for navigating IVR menus. It should be noted that the display and navigation of the IVR menus can be done offline. The originating device can allow the user to select a node from a presented IVR menu. The user selected node may then be communicated to the IVR system. A telephone voice channel connection can be made between the IVR system and the originating device, and the IVR system can navigate to the location specified by the user-selected node.

Abstract

A method of receiving and presenting interactive voice response data includes sending a telephony connection request for establishing a voice channel connection between an originating device and an interactive voice response system. Before establishing the voice channel connection, an interactive voice response menu associated with the interactive voice response system may be received over a ringback channel. At least a portion of the interactive voice response menu may be provided to a user of the originating device.
