Problems solved by technology

While this may not be an important consideration for low power transmitters, high PAPR is a problem for relatively high power transmitters because the average transmit power must be less than that achievable by the circuit

Embodiment Construction

[0027] Those of ordinary skill in the art should understand that the following description is provided for the purpose of explanation, not for limitation. Skilled artisans understand that there are many variations that are within the spirit of the invention and the scope of the appended claims. Unnecessary details of known functions and constructions are omitted in the current description so as not to obscure the present invention.

[0028] The present invention provides apparatus, methods and systems that provide cost-effective preamble structures for high-speed communications in packetized systems. In a preferred embodiment, the preamble consists of a repetition of a pseudo cyclic orthogonal sequence followed by a full cyclic orthogonal sequence.

Abstract

The present invention provides an apparatus 600, method and system 700, in the present invention, a hierarchical pseudo-circularly symmetric and full circularly symmetric training sequence structure 100 is provided for high-speed block communication systems. The hierarchical pseudo-circularly symmetric part 101 of this training sequence is used for burst detection, coarse- frequency and timing error estimation, and AGC gain setting. The full circularly symmetric part 102 of this training sequence is used for channel estimation and fine frequency error estimation. The resulting sequence has very good peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) making it suitable for many applications. The bandwidth efficiency is also improved due to using symmetric sequences.

Description

technical field [0001] The systems, devices and methods of the present invention relate to cost-effective and reduced Peak to Average Power Ratio (PAPR) leading structures. Background technique [0002] Typically, in packet-based OFDM and other block transmission systems (eg, single carrier with guard intervals), a training sequence is transmitted at the beginning of each packet in the time and frequency domains. These training sequences are used by the receiver for time synchronization (SYNC), frequency offset estimation (FOE), AGC gain setting, timing error estimation and channel estimation (CE). [0003] For example, in the regular mode of operation of an MB-OFDM UWB system, a time domain sequence (length equal to 24 OFDM symbols) is transmitted. This time domain sequence is used for SYNC and FOE. Following this time domain sequence is a frequency domain sequence (length equal to 6 OFDM symbols), which is used for CE. [0004] Typically, all these OFDM symbols are sepa...
