Abstract

The invention discloses a local area network system for realizing streaming media switch among peer-to-peer devices and a realization method thereof. The system comprises a plurality of the peer-to-peer devices, and each peer-to-peer device comprises a service application module, a device discovery control management module and an application management support module, wherein the service application module plays streaming media; the device discovery control management module discovers the peer-to-peer devices on a local area network and establishes a communication mechanism; and the application management support module identifies and manages the discovered peer-to-peer devices, and performs service support on the service application module. In the system and the method, a first peer-to-peer device which is playing the streaming media sends a streaming media switch request to a second peer-to-peer device in the plurality of the peer-to-peer devices according to the communication mechanism; and the second peer-to-peer device responds the streaming media switch request, sends the streaming media request to an assigned network address about the streaming media, and receives and plays the requested streaming media.
