Problems solved by technology

This attempt often means that the membrane is partially lifted which can cause the membrane to become wrinkled and no longer adhesive
In addition, there is a risk of damage to the membrane when nails are inserted under the frame at the break line to lift it from the membrane

Embodiment Construction

[0022] specific implementation plan

[0023] figure 1 and 2 A film dressing 1 according to a first preferred embodiment of the invention is shown. The dressing 1 generally comprises a plastic film 2 coated on the underside with an adhesive layer 3 , a protective layer 4 on the underside of the adhesive coating 3 and a backing layer 5 on the upper side of the plastic film 2 .

[0024] The terms "upper side" and "lower side" and similar expressions in the specification refer to the figure 1 Interrelationships between dressing components in dressing positions shown.

[0025] The protective layer 4 is detachably attached to the adhesive coating 3 . The function of the protective layer 4 is to protect the adhesive coating before application so that particles or other impurities do not adhere to the adhesive coating 3 and impair adhesion. The protective layer 4 also prevents accidental sticking of the dressing in the wrong place when the dressing is handled prior to intended ap...

Abstract

The present invention relates to a film dressing comprising a plastic film (2), which is coated on one side with a skin-friendly adhesive (3), a backing layer (5), which is detachably affixed to the plastic film on the opposite side to the adhesive-coated side, and a protective layer (4) detachably affixed to the adhesive coating. According to the invention the backing layer (5) comprises at least one grip tab (7, 8), which protrudes from an edge of the dressing beyond the outline of the plastic film, and a break line (11, 12) extends from the outer edge of each grip tab (7, 8) towards a central part (6) of the backing layer, dividing the grip tab into two parts.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a film dressing comprising a plastic film coated with a skin-friendly adhesive on one side, a backing layer detachably attached to the plastic film on the opposite side to the adhesive-coated side, and a detachably attached Protective layer on the adhesive coating. Background technique [0002] Since the 1980s, Smith & Nephew, which produces wound care products, has proposed a new type of wound dressing. This product is also currently marketed under the trade name OpSite TM marketed based on the invention described in British Patent GB 1280631. The dressing consisted of a very thin polyurethane film about 25 microns thick coated with a thin self-adhesive layer also about 25 microns thick. This thinness makes the film extremely flexible and bendable. The film can adhere to and seal relatively tightly on the uneven skin surface around the wound. However, any folds that form sometimes create narrow channels through wh...
