Problems solved by technology

[0020] , the base station cannot accurately and timely know the paging cycle (PAGING_CYCLE) and paging offset (PAGING_OFFSET) of the terminal in the idle mode newly moved to its coverage area, and it cannot effectively guarantee the air interface paging message (MOB_PAG -ADV) sent out at the right time
[0021] , the base station cannot timely and accurately know the terminals moving away from its own coverage area, so the base station will still periodically send air interface paging messages, which will cause a certain degree of waste of air interface bandwidth

Embodiment Construction

[0056] Basic thought of the present invention is such:

[0057] When the base station is first powered on, it will not periodically send the air interface paging (MOB_PAG-ADV) message, because at this time the base station does not know any parameters required to obtain the listening interval (Paging Listening Interval) of the terminal in idle mode , such as paging cycle (Paging_Cycle) and paging offset (Paging_Offset).

[0058] In the subsequent process, the base station will continuously acquire each group of paging cycle (Paging_Cycle) and paging offset (Paging_Offset) in the following process. After continuous acquisition, the base station will finally acquire the paging cycle (Paging_Cycle) and paging offset (Paing Offset) used in the current network side and related to the base station. The process for the base station to obtain the paging cycle and paging offset includes the following process, in which the base station can obtain and record the paging cycle (Paging_Cyc...

Abstract

The invention discloses a method and a device for paging a terminal in an idle mode by a worldwide interoperability for microwave access (WIMAX) system. The method comprises the following steps that: a base station acquires and stores each group of parameters including a paging cycle and a paging offset, used in a current network side and relevant to each terminal; the base station judges whether the terminal is in a packing listening interval by using the stored each group of parameters including the paging cycle and the paging offset, at each frame; and the base station sends out a null interface paging message of the base station at the frame, when judging that the terminal is in the packing listening interval according to any one group of parameters including the paging cycle and the paging offset. By the method and the device provided by the invention, the base station can guarantee that the terminal entering an own coverage area can always receive the null interface paging message within the packing listening interval of the terminal. Besides, because the base station continually deletes paging parameter groups which are not used for a long time, the waste of a null interface resource caused by sending the nonsense null interface paging message can be prevented.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to the field of communication technology, in particular to a WIMAX (Worldwide [0002] Interoperability for Microwave Access (Global Interoperability for Microwave Access) system paging method and device for a terminal in idle mode. Background technique [0003] According to the WIMAX protocol, the MS (terminal) in the idle mode (Idle Mode) has two states: a listening state (listening interval) and an unavailable state (unavailable interval). In the listening interval, the terminal can normally receive messages from the base station; but in the unavailable interval, it will not receive any messages from the base station, including air interface paging messages (MOB PAG-ADV). According to the requirements of the protocol, the terminal in idle mode should receive an air interface paging message (MOB PAG-ADV) at each listening interval; at the same time, when there is data from the network side to be sent to the terminal in idle mod...
