Abstract

A method and a base station for performing neighboring cell message configuration based on Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (MiMAX) are provided in the present invention. The method includes the following steps: a base station (BS) on the service side obtains, through an access gateway, the BS configuration information of at least one neighboring cell BS from said at least one neighboring cell BS (S101); and the BS on the service side stores the BS configuration information of said neighboring cell BSs (S102). The technical solution of the present invention enables the BS on the service side to automatically configure the neighboring cell BS information, increases the configuration efficiency obviously compared with the case in the manual configuration mode, and further avoids the communication fault resulted from input mistakes. By applying the present invention, the neighboring cell handover mode of a Mobile Station (MS) is judged according to the BS configuration information of the neighboring cell BSs, thus improving the success rate of neighboring cell handover and insuring the quality of wireless communication.
