[0035] a. Structure of the chewing detection device

[0036] figure 1 A structural example of the mastication detection apparatus 100 according to the first exemplary embodiment is shown. The mastication detection device 100 includes a mastication sound measurement unit 110 , a bandpass filter 120 , a mastication sound form calculation unit 130 , a power threshold value holding unit 140 , a power threshold value calculating unit 150 , a time threshold value holding unit 160 , and a chewing determination unit 170 .

[0037] The chewing sound measuring unit 110 measures the chewing sound. The chewing sound measuring section 110 is constituted by, for example, a microphone, an earphone microphone, or the like, and is arranged in the user's ear or at a position where the chewing sound can be measured at a sufficient volume. The output signal of the chewing sound measuring unit 110 is, for example, a digital signal with a sampling frequency of about 8 kHz.

Abstract

A mastication detection device and a mastication detection method are disclosed. The invention relates to an information processing apparatus and a method for providing logic for processing information. In one implementation, an information processing apparatus may include a receiving unit configured to receive an audio signal associated with a motion of a human mandible over a time period. The information processing apparatus may also include a determination unit configured to determine whether the motion of the human mandible corresponds to mastication, based on at least a power of the received audio signal during the time period.

Description

[0001] CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS [0002] This application is based on Japanese Patent Application JP2011-061694 filed on March 18, 2011, and claims the priority of this application, the entire contents of which are incorporated herein by reference. technical field [0003] The disclosed exemplary embodiments relate to mastication detection devices and mastication detection methods. In particular, the disclosed exemplary embodiments relate to apparatus and methods for identifying chewing based on detection of chewing sounds. Background technique [0004] Due to the increase in health awareness in recent years, the importance of the chewing action (ie, chewing) during meals has been reconsidered. Exemplary advantages obtained by good chewing are summarized as follows: [0005] (1) Help digestion and reduce the burden on the intestines; [0006] (2) Promote saliva secretion and prevent tooth decay; [0007] (3) Strengthen the jaw and improve tooth alignment a...
