The method comprises the steps as follows: when the RB detects that a link between an RB (routing bridge) and a multicast tree root of a multicast tree is not accessible, generating an SPF (shortest path first) tree by using the RB with the accessible link as a temporary tree root according to the recorded path information, and traversing the SPF tree, then generating and updating the multicast routing table item by using the multicast tree root. Based on the same inventive concept, the invention further discloses a device. When the link between the current RB and the multicast tree root is not accessible, the effective multicast table item can be quickly re-calculated so as to guarantee normal retransmission of multi-purpose messages.
