Abstract

The invention discloses a method and device for detecting a terminal heartbeat. The method includes the steps that during the process that a terminal conducts adhering, access network equipment sends an indicating message to the terminal, and the indicating message is used for periodically reporting physical layer reference signal received power (RSRP) measuring messages when an indicating terminal is in a connection state; if the RSRP measuring messages are received from the terminal within a first set time, the terminal is confirmed to be in the connection state, otherwise, the terminal is confirmed to be in a disconnection state; the first set time is larger than or equal to a second set time of the period when the terminal reports the RSRP measuring messages. The method and device does not need to conduct TAU signal interaction, can reduce occupancy of resources, prevents a signal transmission peak which may occur, and prevents the system from being impacted.
