The synchronous audio and video playing method comprises the following steps: receiving streaming media data, including audio data and video data, from a system; reading the streaming media data, and recording a starting timestamp for reading the streaming media data; respectively acquiring and parsing a video data packet and an audio data packet; recording a parsing timestamp of each data packet; binding the starting timestamp and a video parsing timestamp to the video data packet as a video data sample; binding the starting timestamp and an audio parsing timestamp to the audio data packet as an audio data sample; according to the video data sample and the audio data sample as well as an external clock, synchronously playing the audio data and the video data.
