The fault locating method comprises generating at least one first alarm frequent item set; obtaining a candidate parent alarm polling list; wherein the candidate parent alarm polling list comprises several candidate parent alarms, candidate parent alarm mutex relationship identifications and candidate parent alarm priority; determining an alarm which is the same as one candidate parent alarm in the candidate parent alarm polling list in the at least one first alarm frequent item set as a candidate parent alarm; determining a second alarm frequent item set which does not include candidate parent alarms having a mutex relationship in each first alarm frequent item set including candidate parent alarms in dependence on the candidate parent alarm polling list; and selecting one candidate parent alarm as the parent alarm in dependence on the corresponding priority of each candidate parent alarm in each second alarm frequent item set in the candidate parent alarm polling list; and determining the fault point in dependence on the parent alarm.
