Embodiment Construction

[0116] In the drawings, in order to clarify the drawings, respective constituent elements are not always shown in contact with each other, nor are they shown in scale.

[0117] figure 1 A security document 10 equipped with a security element 20 according to the invention is shown.

[0118] The security document 10 is for example a banknote and comprises a fibrous substrate 11, the security element 20 taking the form of a security thread extending from one edge of the substrate 11 to the other in the example considered.

[0119] A security thread 20 is introduced into the window in the example considered, and as figure 2 It is shown with a top surface 21 visible in reflected light.

[0120] The length L of the window, measured parallel to the longitudinal axis of the element 20, is preferably 5 mm or greater, better still 10 mm or greater.

[0121] The width 1 of the element 20 is for example comprised between 4 mm and 8 mm.

[0122] as in figure 2 As can be seen in the...

Abstract

The present invention relates to a security element (20) for a secure document, comprising: - a substrate (22), - a metallic layer (24) borne by the substrate, defining in at least one first area (25) a first pattern (M1) visible in transmitted light, in particular a first pattern formed by metallization and/or demetallization of the substrate, - a non-opaque interference layer, preferably goniochromatic, in particular a layer of liquid crystals (27), borne by the substrate, presents at least one second area distinct from the first, - an absorbent auxiliary layer (30), preferably of a dark colour, able to show in reflected light at least one second pattern (M2) with the non-opaque interference layer by acting on the absorbent character of the base lying behind the non-opaque interference layer, said second pattern (M2) being defined by a contrast between the association of the auxiliary layer and the non-opaque interference layer, and a metallized area of the metal layer or between the association of the auxiliary layer and the non-opaque interference layer and the surroundings thereof at a demetallized area of the metal layer, the auxiliary layer being located substantially outside of the first area.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to security documents and security elements for securing documents. Background technique [0002] Banknotes and other security documents (including checks, warrants, identification cards, credit cards or certificates of guarantee) formed of paper with integrated security threads (i.e., bands of more or less width) have been in circulation for many years and are currently in Widely used in many countries. [0003] In some cases, the security thread in these documents is visible under reflected light in predefined areas presented on at least one side of the paper, these areas are commonly referred to as "windows". [0004] The security thread makes counterfeiting of secure documents more difficult. The security thread usually aids in the authentication of the document by giving it a different appearance in transmitted light than in reflected light. [0005] Methods for producing papers comprising security threads incorporated int...
