Embodiments of the present invention provide a cloud storage-based metadata management method and apparatus. The metadata management method comprises that: after determining that a first storage medium is accessed, a first storage node acquires a first storage medium identifier of the first storage medium; according to the first storage medium identifier, whether the first storage node stores thefirst metadata corresponding to the first storage medium is queried; and if so, the management node is notified to set the state of the first storage medium as to be accessed, so that data stored in the first storage medium is queried by the first metadata.
