Embodiments of the invention disclose a transmission method for a reference signal pattern and devices for the method. The method comprises the following steps that a network device determines a symbolic number N occupied by channel state information-reference signal (CSI-RS) resources, wherein N is a positive integer, and N is equal to {1, 2, 4}; the network device obtains a pattern of the CSI-RSresources according to the symbolic number N; the network device sends configuration information corresponding to the pattern of the CSI-RS resources, wherein N is equal to 1, and the pattern of theCSI-RS resources occupies one resource element (RE) on the time domain and at least four continuous REs on the frequency domain; or N is equal to 2, and the pattern of the CSI-RS resources occupies two continuous REs on the time domain and at least two continuous REs on the frequency domain; or N is equal to 4, and the pattern of the CSI-RS resources occupies four continuous REs on the time domainand at least two continuous REs on the frequency domain. According to the embodiments of the invention, the pattern design of the channel state information-reference signal resources in a 5G system can be realized.
