The method comprises the steps of enabling a server to acquire a BIOS file upgrading instruction; obtaining a to-be-upgraded BIOS file from a preset BIOS file storage position, and obtaining file information and first verification information of the to-be-upgraded BIOS file, wherein the first verification information is generated in advance according to the model information of the server and the file information of the BIOS file to be upgraded; acquiring model information of a server; obtaining second verification information according to the obtained file information and own model information; and when the second verification information is the same as the firstverification information, upgrading according to the BIOS file to be upgraded. According to the method and device, upgrading errors caused by upgrading file errors and upgrading file tampering can beavoided, and the upgrading success rate of the BIOS is increased.
