Abstract

The invention discloses a method for evaluating the arc extinguishing capability of a gaseous medium. The method comprises the following steps of (1) calculating the local thermal equilibrium state component distribution of given gas at a certain temperature and air pressure; (2) obtaining various molecular collision section parameters in gas components before and after arcing; and (3) solving a Boltzmann equation to calculate electron groups and transport parameters of the gas before and after arcing, and obtaining a reduced electric field critical value (E / N)lim of breakdown of the electricnegative gas.
