Abstract

The invention discloses a method for evaluating the arc extinguishing capability of a gaseous medium. The method comprises the following steps of (1) calculating the local thermal equilibrium state component distribution of given gas at a certain temperature and air pressure; (2) obtaining various molecular collision section parameters in gas components before and after arcing; and (3) solving a Boltzmann equation to calculate electron groups and transport parameters of the gas before and after arcing, and obtaining a reduced electric field critical value (E/N)lim of breakdown of the electricnegative gas. The gas medium arc extinguishing capability evaluation method provided by the invention is high in efficiency, and can eliminate the influence of external conditions such as different equipment structures and arc extinguishing forms in experiments and traditional simulation means on experiment results.
