Embodiment Construction

[0055] Embodiments of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings. First, the reproduction device designation designation system of the present embodiment will be described in outline using FIG. 1 .

[0056] FIG. 1 is a block diagram of a reproduction device specifying system of an embodiment of the present invention.

[0057] In the example shown in FIG. 1, the replicator 10 reproduces the original recording medium 1 using the reproducing device 3 and performs illegal duplication onto the duplicate recording medium 2 using the AV signal recording device 4.

[0058] The duplicate recording medium 2 then appears as physical evidence of illegal duplication performed by the copier 10, and the reproducing device specifying device 5 is used to clarify the fact that the duplicate recording medium 2 was made by duplication using the reproducing device 3.

[0059] It can be considered that it has been found in advance that the replicator 10 does not have th...

Abstract

A reproduction equipment converts an identification code of the reproduction equipment into a plurality of signal sequences using a correspondence table and embeds the obtained plurality of signal sequences in AV signals as a digital watermark. A reproduction equipment specifying equipment compares correlation values of the AV signals, containing the digital watermark embedded therein with all signal sequences contained in a correspondence table. A comparison of the correlation values with a previously set threshold value determines the embedded signal sequences and the identification code of the reproduction equipment which may be extracted.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a reproducing device for AV (in this specification, one of audio or video or both audio and video will be collectively referred to as "AV") signals, and more particularly, relates to A technique of embedding an identification code specifying a reproduction device in an output AV signal (reproduction signal) as a digital watermark. [0002] The present invention also relates to a reproducing device specifying device which extracts a digital watermark from AV signals (reproduced signals) and specifies a reproducing device which outputs these AV signals (reproduced signals). [0003] In this specification, "reproducing device" refers not only to a device having only a function of reproducing an AV signal from a recording medium, but also includes a device having both functions of reproducing and recording an AV signal on a recording medium. Background technique [0004] Recently, it has become possible...
