Embodiment Construction

[0010] FIG. 1 is a block diagram illustrating an exemplary optical data system 100 for processing optical data. The optical data system 100 includes an optical processing system 101 and an optical medium 102 . The configured optical medium 102 may be a single-layer or multi-layer optical disc, such as a CD or DVD. An elongated, spiral data track (see Figure 2 and image 3 Discussion) contains a number of framing marks 104 and data fields 106. The set framing marks 104 include data, marks, labels, and / or other characters distinguishable into the framing marks and data areas 106 . Framing marks 104 may "frame" or enclose all or a portion of data region 106 . In an exemplary embodiment, one or more framing marks 104 located on defined data tracks on optical medium 102 may be used to indicate the location of one or more data regions.

[0011] In one embodiment, optical processing system 101 includes a photodetector array 108 and a post-processor 112 . Photodetector array 108 i...

Abstract

The invention discloses an optical system (100) for optical data processing. In one embodiment of the system (100), a photodetector array (108) is configured to acquire images (110) of light modulated by reflections from defined data tracks (200) on the optical medium (102). ). In this example, the image (110) includes at least one framing marker (104) and at least one data field (106). A post-processor is configured to analyze the image (110) and identify data within the framing marker (104) and the data area (106).

Description

[0001] related application [0001] This patent application is related to, commonly assigned to, and hereby incorporated by reference into, U.S. Patent Application Serial No. ___ / ___,___ for "Array-Based Optical Heads," filed at ___ / ___ / ___ combined. technical field The invention relates to optical processing, in particular to an optical processing system and method. Background technique [0002] CD (Compact Disc) and DVD (Digital Video (or Universal) Disc) are both optical disk storage media used to store large amounts of digital data. A standard CD consists of a long, thin spiral track that starts near the center of the disc and winds towards the edge of the disc. Information is stored across millions of raised and flat areas ("platforms"). This track ensures the storage of large volumes of data. [0003] While the systems described above are effective, improvements in the optical data processing process are desired. Contents of the invention [0004] Disclosed her...
