Abstract

The knee protecting air bag apparatus includes a bag capable of expanding to protect knees, an inflator to jet expanding air, a casing to hold the air bag and the inflator, and an air bag hood to cover the air bag and allow it to stretch. The casing has back opening, upper wall, side walls, lower wall and bottom wall. The air bag hood has a door opened downwards by the expanding air bag. The knee protecting air bag apparatus has its air bag expanded with limited backward stretching in the initial expansion stage.
