This invention relates to
liquid crystal alignment agents,
liquid crystal alignment films, and
liquid crystal display elements. The liquid
crystal alignment agent of this invention contains the following components (A) to (D), and contains component (C) in an amount of 20 to 50% by
mass relative to the total
mass of the liquid
crystal alignment agent. (A): At least one
polymer selected from the group consisting of
polyimide precursors and polyimides as imides thereof. (B): A non-amine Si
coupling agent. (C): At least one
organic solvent selected from the group consisting of γ-butyrolactone, γ-
valerolactone, N-ethyl-2-pyrrolidone, N-butyl-2-pyrrolidone, and ethyl carbitol. (D): At least one
organic solvent selected from the group consisting of 1-butoxy-2-
propanol, 2-butoxy-1-
propanol, butyl cellosolve, butyl cellosolve acetate, and
dipropylene glycol dimethyl ether.
