Abstract

The invention provides terminal equipment, its QoS implementation method and flow classifier. A terminal device connected to a network, comprising: a QoS unit including: a flow classifier that classifies a data flow to be transmitted through the network and outputs a signal indicating the category of the data flow a classification result; a policy database storing, for each of the one or more classes, a policy corresponding to the class; and a policy enforcement unit receiving the classification result from the flow classifier, searching the policy database for a policy corresponding to the category of the data flow indicated in the classification result, determining processing to apply to the data flow based at least on the found policy, and applying to the data flow determined treatment. Flow classifiers may use flow characteristic information and flow context information. The QoS unit may also include a policy adjustment unit that receives user input. The policy enforcement unit may utilize an overlay technique.
