Abstract

A message pushing method and system in an Internet protocol television system solve the problem of great system overhead when a message is transferred through a conventional message system architecture. The system comprises a message management server and a message transfer system. The message management server is configured to deliver a message to the message transfer system. The message transfer system comprises a forwarding control server and a transfer server. The forwarding control server is configured to allocate a transfer server managing a set-top box (STB) to the STB when the STB logs in the message transfer system, establish a connection between the transfer server and the STB, and forward messages between the transfer server and the STB. The transfer server is configured to establish a connection to a managed STB thereunder, send a message to a destination STB through the forwarding control server after receiving the message delivered by the message management server,, and send a message to the message management server after receiving the message sent by a source STB.
