Abstract

The embodiment of the invention discloses a method and a device for accessing an external network, which are used for local area network (LAN) side equipment of a dynamic host configuration protocol (DHCP) server of customer premise equipment (CPE) to access an external wide area network (WAN) through an intranet address without a network address translation (NAT) function. The method disclosed by the embodiment of the invention comprises the following steps of: generating a new NAT rule according to target port information and internet protocol unnumber (IP-U) address information, wherein the target port information and the IP-U address information are added into a NAT rule; inquiring whether a port corresponding to the LAN side equipment starts an IP-U function or not according to a received request message sent by the LAN side equipment, if the port starts the IP-U function, allocating an IP address in an IP-U address pool to the LAN side equipment, otherwise, allocating an IP address on the same network segment with the IP address in the IP-U address pool to the LAN side equipment; and forwarding data messages from the LAN side equipment and WAN side equipment according to the new NAT rule and the distributed IP address.
