Abstract

In a communication system wherein a User Equipment (UE) transmits at least two data channels in at least two respective component carriers, a method and apparatus for reducing a transmission power allocated to each of the least two data channels relative to each of a respective nominal transmission power, when a total nominal transmission power for the at least two data channels exceeds a predetermined value are provided. The method includes reducing a transmission power of the first data channel by a first amount; and reducing a transmission power of the second data channel by a second amount, wherein the first amount and the second amount have different values.

Description

[0001] priority

[0002] This application claims priority to US Provisional Application No. 61 / 160879, entitled "Transmission Power Control in Uplink of Multi-Carrier Communication Systems," filed March 17, 2009, the contents of which are hereby incorporated by reference. technical field

[0003] The present invention is generally concerned with wireless communication systems, and more particularly, the present invention relates to transmission power control for data signals and control signals. Background technique

[0004] A communication system includes a downlink (DL) and an uplink (UL), where DL supports signal transmission from a base station (i.e., "Node B") to a user equipment (UE) and UL supports signal transmission from a UE to a Node B transmission. UEs are commonly referred to as terminals or mobile stations and may be fixed or mobile and may include wireless devices, cellular telephones, personal computer devices, and the like. A Node B is generally a fixed st...
