According to characteristics of a virtual backbone network of the wireless sensor network and a construction algorithm of a distributed connected dominating set, the method provided by the invention introduces concepts of exclusive coverage and a delay waiting rule, and through the combined action of both concepts, each node maintains at most one node in own exclusive region, so that the scale of the connected dominating set is reduced, and the distribution of dominating nodes is more uniform. The method can reduce the scale of the connected dominating set well, ensure the distribution of the dominating nodes to be uniform and sparse, save energy, prolong the life cycle of a whole network, and well adapt to the wireless sensor network with dense node distribution.
