The invention specifically discloses a method for processing faces contained in images, and the method comprises the following steps: aiming at each one of at least a photo album of a social network, detecting faces contained in images of the photo album; gathering the detected faces so as to generate at least a face data set; and selecting a face data set to associate with an owner of the photo album from the at least a face data set. The method also comprises the steps of establishing a face classifier for face recognition through learning based on the face data set associated with the owner of the photo album. The embodiment of the invention also discloses a corresponding device. According to the embodiment of the invention, the cost of face recognition of massive amounts of images is effectively reduced, and the efficiency is improved.
