Problems solved by technology

[0004] In order to solve the problem that the existing indoor bark beetle breeding technology cannot observe the living habits and life history of bark beetles such as building tunnels, mating, laying eggs, feeding and growth of larvae, and it is difficult to obtain data close to natural habits. The present invention provides A method for indoor breeding and life history observation of bark beetles, the technical scheme of which is as follows:

Embodiment Construction

[0039] From December 2001 to December 2004, the Insect Breeding Room of the Forest Protection Institute of Yunnan Academy of Forestry Sciences adopted the "Indoor Breeding and Life History Observation Method of Bark Beetle" for three consecutive years to observe the breeding and observation of Bark beetle in Yunnan, including The continuous feeding and follow-up observation of eggs, larvae, pupae and adults has basically clarified the living habits and life history of the bark beetle in Yunnan, which provides a scientific basis for the control and in-depth research of the insect. The breeding and life history observation method comprises the following steps:

[0040] (1) Preparation for picking up the host:

[0041] Harvest healthy Pine Yunnan trees with a DBH of 5-10cm from the Arboretum of the Provincial Academy of Forestry or nearby forests, and cut them into 20-80cm lengths. The cuts at both ends are painted with white latex, and then pasted with kraft paper for later use....

Abstract

An indoor feeding and life history observation method of a bark beetle belongs to the technical field of insect feeding and control and solves the problem that observers cannot observe life habits such as gallery building, mating, oviposition, feeding and growth of larvas and life history of the bark beetle by means of an existing indoor bark beetle feeding technology. The method comprises the following steps: (1) preparation of a host wood section, (2) preparation of an insect feeding cage, (3) collection of imagoes, (4) insect receiving and feeding, (5) observation of the characteristics of imago intruding holes and mother galleries and observation statistics of oviposition quantity, (6) inoculation of eggs and observation of incubation behaviors, (7) observation of feeding behaviors and characteristics of son galleries, (8) inoculation of pupas and observation of pupation behaviors and (9) inoculation of imago eclosion. The method enables the observers to conveniently track and observe life habits and states of an imago stage, an egg stage, a larva stage and a pupal stage of the bark beetle, and provides scientific evidence for comprehensive control of the bark beetle.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention belongs to the technical field of biological control of insects, in particular to an indoor breeding method of insects. Background technique [0002] Bark beetles belong to the order Coleoptera and Beetleidae, and there are more than 6,000 species. There are about 500 species in China, most of which are important forest pests and quarantine pests. Bark beetles mostly live in bark or heartwood. They have strong fecundity and a wide range of hosts. They are difficult to detect in the early stage of damage. Once they break out, it is difficult to control them, often causing large areas of forest to wither or die. For example, the bark beetle on pine trees is called "the cancer of pine trees" because of its serious damage and difficult control. The bark beetle is hidden and can spread along with the transfer of host tree species, wood, seedlings, and wooden packaging. Many species, such as the red beetle and the dihedral beetle, are also imp...
