46 results about "Bark beetle" patented technology

A bark beetle is one of about 220 genera with 6,000 species of beetles in the subfamily Scolytinae. Traditionally, this was considered a distinct family Scolytidae, but is now understood to be very specialized members of the "true weevil" family (Curculionidae). Well-known species are members of the type genus Scolytus, namely the European elm bark beetle S. multistriatus and the large elm bark beetle S. scolytus, which like the American elm bark beetle Hylurgopinus rufipes, transmit Dutch elm disease fungi (Ophiostoma). The mountain pine beetle Dendroctonus ponderosae, southern pine beetle Dendroctonus frontalis, and their near relatives are major pests of conifer forests in North America. A similarly aggressive species in Europe is the spruce ips Ips typographus. A tiny bark beetle, the coffee berry borer, Hypothenemus hampei is a major pest on coffee plantations around the world.

The invention relates to an oriental arborvitae stem borer attractant, which is formed from the preparation of oriental arborvitae extractive and solvent. The main component weight ratio of the oriental arborvitae stem borer attractant is 40 to 55% thujopsene, 10 to 20% cedrol, 6 to 10 % two-table-Alpha-cedrene, 4 to 6% farnesene, 2 to 4% 3-carene and 15 to 30% ethanol. The attractant has the manufacturing method that the cypress fragment added with the proper solvent either ethanol or absolute ethyl ether is extracted in the 70-110 degree temperature. After 1.5 to 2.5 hours cooking and 0.5 to 1 hour condensing, the condensed cream and the crystal are formed, and a solvent and blended is added until in full dissolution. Thus the saturated liquid is made. The supernatant is taken i.e. the attractant liquid. The application method of the invention is characterized in that a special trap is used for pest trapping. The test result shows that the attractant of the invention has an excellent luring effect for pests such as juniper bark borers, cypress bark beetles and so on. The effective time in which each bottle of medical solution maintains is more than 15 days. Not only with high luring activity, but also the invention is pollution free with low cost and simple manufacturing process, which is cost saving, safe, direct, environment friendly and effective.

The invention provides a pesticide film forming agent used for controlling diseases and insect pests of forest trees, and its preparation method. The pesticide film forming agent comprises 0.5-10% of an active component, 0.5-10% of a film forming aid, 5-15% of a solvent, 5-15% of an aid and 50-80% of water; and the active component is one of or a mixture comprising several of tebuconazole, difenoconazole, propiconazole and emamectin benzoate. The drug film forming agent has a good control effect on the diseases and insect pests of the forest trees, has a low price, is convenient to use, and has a good control effect on the dry rot diseases of hickory trees, the canker of various trees, stalk longhorn beetles and bark beetles, leaf aphids, red spider mites and the like especially; the drug film forming agent reduces the active component volatilization and loss possibility and changes the release performance, so the residual period is prolonged, the drug dose and the dosing frequency are reduced; and the drug film forming agent reduces the toxicity of highly toxic pesticides, reduces the acute toxicity of pesticides, reduces the drift of the pesticides, and mitigates the pollution to the environment and the hazard to crops.

Method for artificially propagating pyemotes bark beetle through Callosobruchus chinensis and application in biological control of bark beetle pests

The invention discloses a method for artificially propagating pyemotes bark beetle and the application in biological control of bark beetle pests. The method for artificially propagating pyemotes bark beetle through Callosobruchus chinensis comprises the steps as follows: firstly, a host that is Callosobruchus chinensis is produced; secondly, protospecies of pyemotes bark beetle is prepared; and thirdly, pyemotes bark beetle is propagated. The method and the application have the benefits as follows: the difficult problem of propagating pyemotes bark beetle to replace the host is solved; pyemotes bark beetle can be propagated in large quantities; the method is simple and convenient to operate; large-scale production can be carried out; the method is applicable to control Scolytus seulensis Murayama pests on forests and fruit trees such as apricot trees, peach trees and plum trees; the problem that the forests and the fruit trees such as the apricot trees, the peach trees and the plum trees are damaged by the Scolytus seulensis Murayama pests and whole branches or entire trees die back further because the parasitism rate of pyemotes bark beetle is lower can be solved; therefore, the requirements of forestry and fruit Industry production can be satisfied, pollution on the environment cannot be caused, and the method is an effective technological means for controlling the Scolytus seulensis Murayama pests in an environmental protection manner.

Composite wood product and method of manufacture utilizing wood infected by bark beetles

This application reveals a methodology for making a preserved composite wood product from wood infested with a fungus associated with a bark beetle, and the preserved composite wood product produced thereby. In one embodiment, the method involves profiling lumber to remove a portion of fungus infested wood or bark, leaving a profiled board having a bonding surface comprising a remaining portion of fungus infested wood, treating the profiled board with a liquid comprising a lumber additive, so that the board absorbs the liquid and the remaining portion of the fungus infested wood on the bonding surface acquires a retained concentration of the lumber additive, to form a treated board, and joining the bonding surface to one or more pieces of wood along a longitudinal junction, to form a composite wood product that has an interior and an exterior, so that an interior segment of the longitudinal junction is formed by the remaining portion of the fungus infested wood on the bonding surface located in the interior of the composite wood product, wherein the retained concentration of the lumber additive in the interior segment is at least as high as the concentration of the lumber additive at any point on the exterior of the composite wood product.

Early prediction method for invasion quantity of platycladus orientalis bark beetles based on GC-IMS

The invention discloses a GC-IMS (Gas Chromatography-IP Multimedia Subsystem)-based early prediction method for the invasion quantity of oriental arborvitae bark beetles. Healthy and damage-free platycladus orientalis plants are selected, different quantities of adult platycladus orientalis are inoculated to different platycladus orientalis samples, and volatile matter collection and GC-IMS detection are performed after a period of time. A multi-linear principal component analysis method is adopted to carry out characteristic parameter extraction on GC-IMS data, the number of characteristics is optimized through cross validation, and finally a partial least square model of the platycladus orientalis GC-IMS characteristic parameters and the invasion number of the platycladus orientalis bark beetles is established. The partial least squares regression model is applied to early prediction. By means of the method, early prediction of the number of the platycladus orientalis invaded by the platycladus orientalis can be achieved, complex pretreatment operation is not needed, repeatability is good, the platycladus orientalis plants are not damaged in the detection process, and a new method is provided for early warning of forest trunk borers.
