User interface for an electronic trading system

A user interface for an electronic trading exchange is provided which allows a remote trader to view in real time bid orders, offer orders, and trades for an item, and optionally one or more sources of contextual data. Individual traders place orders on remote client terminals, and this information is routed to a transaction server. The transaction server receives order information from the remote terminals, matches a bid for an item to an offer for an item responsive to the bid corresponding with the offer, and communicates outstanding bid and offer information, and additional information (such as trades and contextual data) back to the client terminals. Each client terminal displays all of the outstanding bids and offers for an item, allowing the trader to view trends in orders for an item. A priority view is provided in which orders are displayed as tokens at locations corresponding to the values of the orders. The size of the tokens reflects the quantity of the orders. An alternate view positions order icons at a location which reflects the value and quantity of the order. Additionally, contextual data for the item is also displayed to allow the trader to consider as much information as possible while making transaction decisions. A pit panel view is also provided in which traders connected to the pit are represented by icons, and are displayed corresponding to an activity level of the trader.

Arrangement and Method for Determining Positions of the Teats of A Milking Animal

ActiveUS20100289649A1Determination of the positions of the teats of an animalRapid determinationCathetersPosition fixationImaging processingEngineering
An arrangement is provided for attaching teat cups to teats of a milking animal in a rotary milking system having a milking stall for housing the milking animal during milking. The arrangement comprises a three-dimensional camera configured to be directed towards the udder of the milking animal in the milking stall and to repeatedly record three-dimensional images of the udder of the milking animal in real time. The three-dimensional camera is further configured to be directed towards the teat cups located in a magazine and to repeatedly record three-dimensional images of the teat cups in real time. The arrangement also includes an image processing device configured to repeatedly detect the teats of the milking animal and determine the positions of the teats in three spatial dimensions based on said repeatedly recorded three-dimensional images of the teats. The image processing device is also configured to repeatedly detect the plurality of teat cups and determine the positions of the teat cups in three spatial dimensions based on said repeatedly recorded three-dimensional images of the teat cups located in the magazine. The arrangement also includes a control device configured to control a robot arm, based on the determined positions of the teats of the milking animal and the determined positions of the teat cups, to automatically attach at least one teat cup to at least one teat of the milking animal in the milking stall.

Vehicle license plate imaging and reading system for day and night

ActiveUS7016518B2Avoid sensor overload headlightAvoid reflected glareOptical rangefindersRoad vehicles traffic controlLicense numberInfrared
This invention provides an infrared illuminator and camera system for imaging of auto vehicle license plates. The system works in ambient light conditions, ranging from bright sunlight, to dim light, to dark, to zero ambient light. It yields high-contrast imaging of the letters and numbers on retro-reflective license plates. The images of the license letter and number combinations can be read manually by a remote operator. They can be converted to text format with optical character recognition computer hardware and software. The text data can then be compared to data files listing license numbers to provide further data about the owner of a licensed vehicle. A decision can be made quickly about whether to allow a vehicle to proceed through a gate, or whether to take other action. The system uses a mono camera that is enhanced for infrared sensitivity and combined with a high power infrared illuminator to maximize range at night, and with shutter speeds set up to capture clear license plate pictures even with fast moving vehicles and even with their headlights on and interfering with human observation of the license plates. Optical filtering to pass infrared in the range of the illuminator and to reduce light outside this range, combines with a lens set up, to avoid vertical smear and sensor overload caused by headlights at night and by highlight reflected glare from the sun in daytime.

Process and equipment for manufacturing clear, solid ice of spherical and other shapes

The process and equipment, according to this invention, for manufacturing clear, solid ice of spherical and other shapes are capable of making clear ice balls and block ice of other shapes in the mold quickly, efficiently, and with effective energy utilization. This process is characterized in the steps of:
    • a) preparing a mold for making ice balls and block ice of other shapes, which comprises an upper mold (24a) made of an insulating material and provided with a vertical injection hole (23) drilled therein and a water-injection nozzle (22) fitted in the hole; and a lower mold (24b) made of a water-freezing block (26) having coolant pipe (25) embedded therein;
    • b) preparing for a domed lid (21a) or the lid of a different shape made of an insulating sheet, said lid (21a) having a shape that fits in with the surface shaped for the upper mold (24a) and being provided with a cylinder for being fitted into the vertical injection hole (23); and a shaped hemispherical cup (21b) of the same insulating sheet, which similarly fits in with the shaped surface of the lower mold (24b);
    • c) assembling both halves of the mold (24) after the lid (21a) and the cup (21b) have been attached tightly to each other and placed in the mold;
    • d) then, keeping the liquid to be frozen cooled at a predetermined temperature and spraying the liquid intermittently in the direction of the water-freezing block (26) that has been cooled to a predetermined freezing temperature;
    • e) repeating the spraying operation to freeze the sprayed liquid in the container (21), layer by layer, until clear ice balls (20) or block ice of other shapes are formed; and
    • f) disassembling the halves of the mold under the ice-releasing effect, which the ice container (21) has on the ice-making mold (24), and immediately taking out We shaped ice balls (20) or the block ice of a different shape.
