Abstract

The invention provides an ordinal measure (OM) feature-based image retrieval method. According to the method, upon the attribute value similarity and the position similarity of blocks, performing replacement on ordinal measure features of a to-be-detected image so as to obtain multiple ordinal measure features of the image, and an image of which the ordinal measure feature is identical with any ordinal measure feature of the to-be-detected image is retrieved from an image library. By adopting the method, without calculating the similarity among the ordinal measure features, the ordinal measure features are matched by a comparison method for fixed length strings, so that the speed of comparison and retrieval is increased; the ordinal measure feature-based image retrieval method is suitable for large-scale image retrieval; moreover, the replacement is performed on the ordinal measure features upon the attribute value similarity and the position similarity of the blocks, and as the distribution of attribute value sizes is considered by the replacement, the defect that only the attribute value sizes are considered without considering the difference among the attribute values by the original OM features is remedied.
