Abstract

The invention discloses a gender identification method and apparatus based on a face image. The method comprises the steps of: carrying out discrimination of gender classification on a face image to be identified by a preset prior model in a deep convolution neural network, obtaining a gender discrimination result, and if a probability value of the gender discrimination result is greater than a preset probability value, determining that a gender discriminated in the gender discrimination result is a gender of a person described in the face image to be identified; and if the probability value of the gender discrimination result is smaller than the preset probability value, by comparison of a cosine similarity between features of the face image to be identified and features of a face image sample, identifying the gender of the person described in the face image, wherein the face image sample is an image sample of an entire face. Therefore, in the complex imaging case, the deep convolution neural network is combined with feature comparison of the images, and auxiliary identification can be carried out by utilizing depth texture, edge and color features of the face, so that accuracy of gender identification is improved.
